Creating bibliographic citations
Steps
- Install Zotero and Zotero Connector (https://www.zotero.org/download/). If you do not have admin rights, you need to contact the IT helpdesk.
- Ask Flo to add you to the shared Library.
- Locate the “Sources” collection.
- To add a new source click on the icon New Item and select required type of source (see RegRed source types below).
- Select the corresponding “Item Type” from the scroll down menu, according to the information filled is a
sourceTypecolumn (see Zotero item types below).
- After you choose an “Item Type” fill in the information for the source.
- Create citation in APA standard
- right-click on your selected item and choose “Create Bibliography from Item(s)…”.
- select the APA style, output method “Copy to Clipboard” and click “OK”.
- paste the citation into the source table, column
bibliographicCitation.
- right-click on your selected item and choose “Create Bibliography from Item(s)…”.
WarningHow do I use Zotero connector?
- If you are accessing the source online, you can use Zotero connector, communicating with your internet browser (Firefox, Chrome, Edge).
- The Zotero connector icon is located in the upper right corner of the browser.
- Connector will download available metadata information about the source and capture a page snapshot, but you still need to review them
- Always verify the information in the Zotero dashboard and manually correct any errors

- Go to the webpage you want to cite in your web browser.
- Click the Zotero connector icon located in your browser’s toolbar.
- Select a collection from the dropdown menu and press Enter.
- Go to the desktop application.
- Find the newly saved web page item.
- Review the information pane on the right side of the Zotero window.
- Correct possible errors and add any missing information.
RegRed source types
Collection- An aggregation of resources.Dataset- Dataset or database.Interactive resource- Book in PDF or Web page.
Text- Book, Document, Journal Article.
